Air generators

Supply your analytical instruments with a high purity air generator

If your laboratory needs quality air, F-DGSi offers the widest range of zero air, ultra zero air and CO2-free air generators for applications such as GCTOC and FT-IR analysis. We can offer these generators with or without a compressor. If you are interested in improving your laboratory air supply, contact us today or browse our wide range of air generators.

What is an air generator and how it works?

Air generators are a safer and more convenient alternative to using gas cylinders. Every time you change a gas cylinder, you take the risk of polluting your gas line with contaminants and impurities. Whereas with an air generator once installed, it will always provide a correct and constant gas purity, without worries, adapted to your needs. But how does an air generator work?

The differents Air Purification Technology available

Zero Air
The Zero Air Generator is designed to receive compressed air from an internal or external compressor.

The oil-free compressor delivers air through a high efficiency coalescing inlet filter to trap moisture that could damage the system. The air exiting the filter enters a high-temperature platinum catalyst that oxidizes hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide to < 0.05 ppm. This reduces the background noise and increases the sensitivity of your analyses. Then, an output particle filter is used to prevent any type of particles from entering the analytical instrument.

Option: The Zero Total air generator allows in addition to the reduction of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide to remove other pollutants such as NOx and SO2. NOx is reduced with a Purafil filter and the other components are removed with an activated carbon filter.

Ultra Zero Air
The Ultra Zero Air Gas Generator uses adsorption technology (PSA) and a palladium catalyst to produce ultra zero air.

The gas generator is designed to take compressed air at 8 bar (116 psi) from an integrated or non-integrated oil-free air compressor.

This compressed air stream is pre-filtered and then passed over the alumina bed currently in purification mode to remove moisture. The outgoing air enters a high-temperature platinum catalyst that oxidizes hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide to < 0.05 ppm.

Option: The Ultra Air Zero Total generator allows in addition to the reduction of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide to remove other pollutants such as NOx and SO2. The NOx is reduced with a Purafil filter and the other components are removed with an activated carbon filter.

TOC
The gas generator is designed to take pre-filtered compressed air at 8 bar from the existing laboratory supply or via the built-in oil-free compressor. The pre-filtered air enters a high-temperature platinum catalyst which, through oxidation, removes hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide to < 0.05 ppm. CO2 and moisture are remove.

CO2 Removal
The gas generator is designed to take pre-filtered compressed air at 8 bar from the existing laboratory supply or via the built-in oil-free compressor. The pre-filtered air enters an air dryer to remove CO2 and moisture, producing a clean, dry, CO2-free air stream.

Benefits of a air generator against gas cylinders

Once installed in your laboratory, the air generators provide a constant supply of air with permanent purity from the ambient atmosphere, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. This can provide up to 99.9995% air depending on the generator model. This gas supply will last as long as your instrument needs it without contamination.
For added safety, our gas generators store very little air internally. Air is produced at low pressure unlike traditional gas cylinders.
Our gas generators work continuously to deliver air at all times, eliminating the risk of running out of gas during your analysis. Don’t waste time ordering, receiving, storing and changing cylinders! Concentrate on what is really important for the laboratory, i.e. the analysis.
With a air generator, you replace obsolete cylinder technology with constant production that can save you up to 50% of the cost of gas. This gives you a much faster return on investment than gas cylinders.
Air generators are a much more environmentally friendly and sustainable source of gas supply than gas cylinders. Indeed, gas cylinders have high energy requirements such as: the CO2 emission involved in delivery and recovery and the energy consumption involved in manufacturing the gas.
