CALYPSO GENERATORS

Generators for LC-MS(MS)

Any LC-MS (Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry) requires a reliable source of Nitrogen gas and to meet the specific market demands, F-DGSi’s very first gas generator that was manufactured was a Nitrogen generator. With more than 15 years of experience, our CALYPSO range has become the benchmark. Thanks to the robust architecture and stable operation helping the various manufacturers LC-MS to run continuously 24*7. CALYPSO comes in two technologies, you can chose depending on the purity and sensitivity requested by your analysis. The two technologies available are called PSA and Membrane.

CALYPSO is the most advanced gas generator in the market for your LC-MS

All the parameters are accessible using an intelligent and intuitive touch screen. You can Start/stop the unit, check the outlet gas flow as well as its pressure, check running hours and service hours, schedule the production during the week. Also, a log book is available to check all the past events, and, many more functions!
F-DGSi is the pioneer in the Laboratory gas generator manufaturing segment to introduce the free Remote Connectivity software. When physical visit to your lab is a challenge (like during pandemic situations) or when immediate first-aid operation is requested, then this software is a blessing. If you have internet available, then simply connect a USB cable, Laptop with the F-DGSi generator, and, then the remote connection allows us to examine internal parameters and system performance in real time without opening the device. The goal is to quickly diagnose critical points to make service maintenance faster and more precise. As a result, downtime and travel costs are reduced a lot!
We worked years to reduce the Noise level to make it better for your laboratory. So, now, for all our gas generator models, it is much soundproofed, ensuring a minimum level of noise and vibrations. The generator can therefore be installed as close as possible to your analytical instrument.
Our generators comes with Energy Saving Technology (EST) allowing the compressor to relax or stop according to the gas demand. It is a very efficient function as there is a major reduction in power or energy consumption and a tremendous increase in the performance / longevity of the compressor.
All generator events are stored on an SD card for 30 days to back up your data.

Single and Multiple Gas for CALYPSO

CALYPSO offers a standalone nitrogen solution for LC-MS applications. Various models are available, with or without an integrated air compressor:
  • CALYPSO: 15 to 70 L/min using PSA technology
  • CALYPSO M: 35 L/min and 70 L/min using membrane technology
  • CALYPSO DS: 20 to 55 L/min using two-stage PSA compression technology
Compatible with all LC-MS manufacturers (Bruker, Sciex, Waters, Agilent, Thermo, Shimadzu, Perkin Elmer) For Thermo ASE applications:
  • CALYPSO DS HP: 40 L/min using two-stage PSA high-pressure compression technology

Membrane Nitrogen Generator for LCMS

Two technologies for CALYPSO at F-DGSi: Pressure Swing Adsorption Vs. Membrane Technology for gas generation process

PSA Technology

The PSA absorption process utilizes carbon molecular sieve filtration (CMS). The CMS retains molecules of O2, CO2, and H2O, as well as hydrocarbons from the atmosphere, while allowing nitrogen to pass through. CMS columns cycle between purification and regeneration modes to ensure continuous nitrogen production. The process is thus cyclical and fully automated, offering nitrogen purities exceeding 99.9995% and an average column lifespan generally exceeding 10 years. The advantages of PSA are:

  • High gas purity
  • Constant purity over time
  • Maximum removal of hydrocarbons

Membrane Technology

The membrane technology utilizes semi-permeable polymer hollow fibers that enable molecular separation. Small molecules like O2 and carbon dioxide diffuse through the membrane pores, while the larger nitrogen molecules remain trapped in the membrane flow.

This is a simple filtration technique that maintains nitrogen purity below 99.5%. The membrane itself has a lifespan of less than 5 years because it cannot be regenerated. In contrast, PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) technology can guarantee a lifespan of 10 years. To protect the membrane from hydrocarbons, it is also advisable to add an activated carbon filter.
